Brian Matthew Moran, born on August 7, 2003, left us to go play with the Angels on Sunday, April 6, 2014.
Although Brian has had a heart condition since birth, he led a healthy and happy life until mid-November, when he developed a lung issue along with needing a new heart valve. He was strong and brave, and tried to be himself through his fight. Brian was a happy student at Southern Elementary, where he had many friends. He was involved with the Buddy Walk and Blue-Gold events. Brian was chosen to carry the torch and participate in the Basketball Special Olympics. He loved dancing, singing, bowling, playing the drums and basketball. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family, laughing and smiling. He made instant friends with all the people he met.
So full of energy and life, Brian left an impression with everyone that met him. He had a way to make everyone around him smile.
Brian is survived by his loving parents, Robert Jr. and Beth Moran; his two sisters, Kelly and Krissy; his maternal grandparents, Larry and Marge Burchfield; his paternal grandparents, Dave and Trish Armstrong; and his aunts, uncles and many cousins.
Family and friends are invited to visit at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Pike Creek on Friday, April 11 from 5:00-7:00PM. A service to celebrate Brian's life will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, April 12 at 9:30AM. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Brian may be made to Nemours Cardiac Center, 1600 Rockland Road, Wilmington, DE 19803 or the Down Syndrome Association of Delaware, PO Box 747, Middletown, DE 19709 (www.dsadelaware.org).
