Mary (Maura) A. O'Flynn

Age 98, passed away peacefully on April 10, 2014.

Maura was born on September 9, 1915 in Cork, Ireland, the daughter of the late Denis and Agnes (Bailey) O'Flynn. After completing her education, she worked in her family's shop until she immigrated to Delaware in 1954 to help her sister, Dr. Nora O'Flynn O'Brien, care for her family.

Maura loved gardening, her various pets: cats, dogs, birds and a horse, caring for her numerous grandnieces and grandnephews, and cooking enormous Sunday dinners for a weekly family gathering.

Maura is predeceased by her sisters Nora and Una, and brothers Denis and Cornelius. Maura is survived by her four nephews: Richard O'Flynn O'Brien, his wife Carol and their sons, Stephen and Michael; Denis O'Flynn O'Brien, his wife Patricia Sertich, and their children, Kate and Denis; Robert O'Flynn O'Brien, his wife Susan Over, and their daughters, Julia and Clara; and David O'Flynn, his wife Gail and their children, David, James and Erin, and her niece Felicity O'Flynn Botwinik, her husband David and their son, Daniel.

Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Joseph on the Brandywine Church, 10 Old Church Road, Greenville, on Wednesday, April 16, at 10:30am, where visitation will be held in the church beginning at 9:30am. Burial will be in the adjoining church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Jeanne Jugan Residence, Little Sisters of the Poor, 185 Salem Church Road, Newark, DE 19713-2997.
