Michael D. Weller

Michael D. Weller, of Wilmington, DE died April 12, 2014, after a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born to John and Dorothy Weller in Lancaster, PA and moved to Delaware at an early age. He obtained his Bachelor's degree from the University of DE, his Master's from Delaware State University and taught art in the Colonial School District for many years.

Alongside teaching, Michael also developed a small business serving parties and networking within the Wilmington area to provide additional staff to caterers and individual hosts. He loved serving his clients and wanted them to know how grateful he was for their loyalty, kindness and support through the years.

He was an active member of Trinity Episcopal Parish, Wilmington, where he served as the head of the Altar Guild. The Trinity community touched him deeply, and he particularly wanted them to know how much their welcome, care and kindness meant to him. Michael's thoughtfulness, attention to detail, his phenomenal memory, his wit and flair for fashion and design marked everything he did. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by his husband Tony Catka, sister Susan Rappa (Charles), nephew, Justin Hagerman, niece Holley Hagerman, stepchildren Katherine Catka, Clare Catka, Nicholas Catka, Michael Catka, mother-in-law, Teresa Catka and sisters in law Kathy Byron (Jim) and Patty Christian (Rod) and Donna Lundy (Peter).

A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, April 21, 2014 at 6 PM at Trinity Episcopal Church, 1108 N. Adams St., Wilmington, DE. Interment will be private.

It is Michael's specific wish that in lieu of flowers donations be made to Trinity Episcopal Parish.
