Charles V. Powell, age 81, of Wilmington, DE died on April 20, 2014 at Wilmington Hospital. Born to the late Howard and Dorothy Powell in South Waverly, PA, he was raised in Boothwyn, PA. After his graduation from Chichester High School in 1950, he entered the Army. Charles served during the Korean Conflict stationed with the 51st Signal Battalion, a reunion he faithfully attended every year. A resident of Wilmington for 60 years, he was employed by Diamond State Telephone which eventually became AT&T. After his retirement in 1985, he and his wife began a Bed & Breakfast in Wilmington known as "The Boulevard" which lasted for 16 years. His hobbies included Genealogy and he was an avid Eagles football fan. He was a pilot, owning and flying his own plane for several years and loving it. He was a member of the Masons in Wilmington and also belonged to the Mayflower Society.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a son, Steven Powell. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Judith A. Dutton Powell; children, Michael Powell and Patricia (Charles) Bradley; daughter-in-law, Lavonna Powell; grandchildren, Erin Powell Facey, Michelle, Christopher, Victoria & Cassandra Bradley; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Hugh and Irene Dutton; 2 nephews and a niece.
Funeral service on Thursday, 1:00PM at the Pagano Funeral Home, 3711 Foulk Rd., Garnet Valley, Pa. where friends may call from 12-1:00 PM. Interment Gracelawn Memorial Park. Donations in his memory may be made to National MS Society, P.O. Box 4527, New York, NY 10163 or
