Zachary A. Burris, 21, a lifelong resident of Newark, died on April 27, 2014 as a result of a tragic car accident.
A graduate of Newark High School, Zac was passionate about life and filled every minute of his 21 years with the joy of living. From the time he was a child, he had a love of anything with wheels - skateboards, bikes, mini-bikes, motorcycles, cars. Zac was gifted with a talent for mechanics and was currently building a Monte Carlo, but the time he treasured the most was the time he spent on his Harley on the open road. A black-belt in tae kwon do, he was always ready to intercede when he saw someone being bullied. Zac was absolutely loyal and faithful to his family and friends. He enjoyed fishing. Zac left us entirely too soon, but his smile will never fade.
Zac is survived by his parents, Ric and Debbie Burris; 2 sisters, Gretchen Mayne and Amy Machado; many devoted friends and family; and his dog, Sophie.
A visitation will be held from 6-8pm, Thursday, May 1 at the McCrery & Harra Funeral Home, 3710 Kirkwood Hwy. (Route 2 East @ Duncan Rd.), where a service in thanksgiving for his life will be held at 3pm, Friday, May 2. His friends are encouraged to wear a typical Zac outfit - jeans and tees. Instead of flowers, the family suggests honoring Zac's memory by sending a contribution to
