John A. "Jack" DeBusi, age 91, of New Castle, DE passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 7, 2014.
Jack proudly served his country in the US Coast Guard in the Philippines during WWII. He worked at Westinghouse for 45 years as a turbine blader. He was a member of First Lutheran Church in PA. He was an avid bowler and played until his was 89 years old. Jack embraced life with a positive attitude. He was happy go lucky no matter what life brought his way. He was always smiling and brought laughter to all. He loved his family and he will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Jack is survived by his son, Jack W. DeBusi; daughters, Faith Nelms (Don) and Donna Lynn Hager (Joe);11 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and sisters; Irene Inman (Clay) and Thelma Johnson (Larry). He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 60 years, Edith; infant son, Kenneth C.; sister, Marguerite DeBusi; and daughter in law, Eileen DeBusi.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 13, 2014 from 9:30-11:00 am at the Strano & Feeley Family Funeral Home, 635 Churchmans Road, Newark, DE 19702. A service in celebration of Jack's life will follow at 11:00 am. Burial will be private at Valley Forge Memorial Gardens in PA. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Delaware Hospice, 16 Polly Drummond Center, 2nd Fl., Newark, DE 19711. The DeBusi family would like to thank nurses Renee and Tamika from Delaware Hospice for their care of Jack during his illness.
