Frank C. Albanese

Hockessin

Frank Albanese, of Hockessin, DE passed away Friday, June 13, 2014.

He was born in 1929 in Arnold, PA to Pasquale and Josephine Albanese who emigrated from Italy. He married the love of his life, Irene, in 1950. Frank served in the Army stationed in Germany during the Korean War as Military Police. Frank and Irene had three children and lived in OH, DE, VA and finally back to DE in 1989. They enjoyed many visits with family back in PA and going to Wildwood and Myrtle Beach. He enjoyed bowling, golfing and tennis. He retired from DuPont after 26 years in the Photo Products division. He was married to Irene almost 47 years before an illness ended her life in 1997.

In 1999 he found love again and married Fran. He was a 4th Degree Knight and 2 term Grand Knight with the Knights of Columbus at several Chapters, most recently with the Coffee Run council at St. Mary of the Assumption Church. He was also an usher, Eucharistic Minister and was a member of the Sages and volunteered at the Emmanuel Dining Room. He enjoyed getting together for the annual Beach Week with his children and grandchildren, attending "DuPont cronies" lunches and going to car shows. He will be remembered for his kind words, his smile and his love of classic cars, especially Buicks.

He is survived by his loving and caring wife of 14 years, Frances Albanese, his three sons, Mark (Eve), Jeff (Monica) and Richard (Christine), Fran's son, Brian Marioni, his grandchildren, Scott, Kenny, Jessica, and Victoria Albanese, Katelin Marioni, Barbara and Elizabeth Pearson and great-grandson, JD Faulkner as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, Mary, Nick, Violet, Joseph, and Margaret (Peggy).

A visitation for family and friends will be held at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Pike Creek on Thursday, June 19 from 6-8 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 7200 Lancaster Pike, Hockessin on Friday, June 20 at 10:30 am with burial in All Saints Cemetery.
