Genevieve D. Sullivan

Wilmington

Genny passed away at her home in Wilmington, DE on the evening of June 14 after a lengthy illness. A native of Wilmington, Genny was born in 1934 to John and Jennie Doberstein. She graduated from Ursuline Academy and from Goldey Beacom College. Genny had a long and varied career with the DuPont Company. Through her many roles over the years from secretary on up to supervisor, she touched many lives and always worked extremely hard and gave it her absolute best.

She met and married her husband, Bob in 1958 and they enjoyed 54 years of marriage before his passing in 2012. The day she died would have been his 86th birthday and we know that he was there to meet her at the end of her journey in this world. Bob and Genny raised their family in Fairfax and after retiring in 1990, they spent 6 years living in Sun City West, Arizona and traveling before returning to Delaware in 1997.

Genny had many interests and hobbies over the years, including reading, playing the piano, knitting, miniatures and crafting of all kinds. She loved to surround herself with beautiful things and always made a comfortable and welcoming home for her family and friends.

Genny is survived by three children; Michael and his partner, Ed Barton of Somerville MA., Dan and his girlfriend, Jill Robinson of Wilmington, DE., Leslie Bastianelli and her husband Paul of Wilmington, DE and her two grandsons, Luke and Evan. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Genny is predeceased by her sisters Elma Doberstein and Regina Lacey, with whom she was always particularly close.

Genny's family would like to thank all of the wonderful people who cared for "Ms. G." throughout her illness, especially Marjorie and Maureen.
