Lester Thomas Moyer, 78, of Lewes, Delaware passed away suddenly Monday, June 16, 2014.
He was born in 1936 in Reading, PA to Flora (Beard) and Lester Moyer. He married the love of his life Eileen (Lengel), in 1959. Lester served in the Navy Reserves for 8 years, while also working in the heavy rigging and specialized transportation business and attending Penn State and Rice Universities. He continued that work until 1993, when he began to own and operate Southern Delaware Physical Therapy, a family outpatient rehabilitation business. Lester continued working in this family business until his passing. Lester was a member of the Reading Lodge No 549 Masons, the Lewes Funhog Club, and was very active in volunteerism in the Lewes community as well.
He is survived by his lovely wife of almost 55 years (June 27) Eileen, his two daughters Julie Moyer Knowles, wife of William of Hockessin, DE and Lori Moyer Jehlen Brown of Athens, GA, and five grandchildren Jake Jehlen Brown of New York, NY, Jeanne Moyer Knowles of Hockessin, DE, William "Tripp" Harold Knowles of Hockessin, DE, Nicolas Steven Brown of Rochester, NY, and Alan Westbrook Brown of Athens, GA. Lester is also survived by his sisters Donna, wife of Kirk Haubrick (Laureldale, PA), Joyce, wife of Edwin "Butch" Williams (Laureldale, PA), Mary Ellen, wife of Ralph Raifsnider (Temple, PA), and his sister-in-laws Dorothy, wife of William Setley (Lincoln Park, PA) and Dawn Hausenauer , wife of Don Levan (Temple, PA). He was blessed with many nieces and nephews including his God children. He was also blessed with other family and friends in Reading PA, Lewes DE, and St. Petersburg FL who he deeply loved and cared for.
Lester asked for three things upon his death: firstly, that relatives and friends go to their own place of worship and pray for God's blessings upon him; secondly, that all of his friends and family do one good deed for someone else in memory of him; and lastly, that a private memorial service for immediate family be held at a later date in his home town of Reading, PA.
Whoever met him loved him. He will be deeply missed.
The family wishes to extend their appreciation to all who helped him including staff and patrons of the Middletown Wawa , Middletown Police and Emergency Personnel, Middletown Christiana Care, Dr. Mart Amick and Dr. Arthur Colbourn.
