Elizabeth (Betty) Armour Wadman, 83, a lifelong resident of the Wilmington area, died on June 17, 2014.
Daughter of Earl S. and Emma Jane Connell Armour, Betty was a 1949 graduate of P.S. du Pont High School and then attended Goldey College. In her earlier years, she worked for Delaware Coach Company. Betty married Richard C. Wadman, Sr. and they settled in Brandywine Springs Manor where she devoted her life to raising their 3 children. Betty was a longtime member of St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, Millcreek Hundred where she served on the Altar Guild and taught Sunday School. Later in her life she volunteered for Read Aloud Delaware.
Her husband, Dick, died in 1978 and she is survived by their children: Richard C. Wadman, Jr. (Jean R.), Amy W. Harra (Richard W.) and Eric A. Wadman (Lori W.); and 4 granddaughters: Erin L., Rebecca M. and Claire L. Wadman and Anne Alexis Harra. In addition to her husband and her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her brother, Richard Shipley Armour.
A viewing will be held from 3-5pm, Sunday, June 22 at the McCrery & Harra Funeral Home, 3710 Kirkwood Highway (Route 2 East at Duncan Rd.). A funeral service will be held at 11:00am, Monday, June 23 at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church followed by interment at Gracelawn Memorial Park. The family suggests honoring the memory of Elizabeth A.
