Winifred F. Hill "Winnie" of Claymont, DE, 63, passed away at home on June 11, 2014 after waging a courageous 3 year battle against ovarian cancer.
Winnie was a lifelong resident of Delaware and was a graduate of Claymont High School. She worked in the retail and food service industries. In retail, she was a long-time employee of Woolworths. She also worked for local catering companies: Brandywine Valley Catering, Brandywine Terrace; and, most recently at The Waterfall in Claymont. She took pride in being asked to serve the bridal parties. Winnie also was an Independent Business Owner with Amway for more than 25 years.
Winnie enjoyed reading, gardening, bowling, traveling and being with family and friends. She especially enjoyed her roses.
Winnie is survived by her daughter, Amber Szotkiewicz; her mother, Hazel Winder; her brother, Warren Winder and his wife, Kathy; her step-children, David W. Hill and Edith (Dee) Kremnitzer; her grandchildren, Erica Nye, David E Hill, III, Diana Kremnitzer, Billy Kremnitzer and Derek Hill; her sisters-in-law, Diana Decker, Marcia Vastine, Melissa Patro and Nancy Wilkerson. Winnie was predeceased by her father, Warren Winder and her former husband and good friend, David E. Hill, Jr.
Winnie's family would like to thank Seasons Hospice for their kindness and compassionate care.
Services celebrating Winnie's life will be on Tuesday, June 24th at 11 am at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, 501 Duncan Road, Wilmington (Bellefonte), DE 19809. Visitation will be from 10 - 11 am at the church. Burial will be in Lawn Croft cemetery in Linwood, PA, following the service.
