Joseph Pantano, age 74 of Wilmington, DE, passed away in the comfort of his home on Monday, June 30, 2014.

Joe was born in Ferla, Sicily on April 2, 1940, son of the late Francesco and Concetta (DiMauro) Pantano, and immigrated to the United States in 1958. He was employed with Delmarva Power and retired in 1998 after 37 years of dedicated service. Following his career with Delmarva Power, Joe was employed for 13 years at Delaware Park, retiring in 2012.

Living in Wilmington for 12 years, Joe and his wife, Barbara moved to Rising Sun, Maryland in 1974 to raise their family. They were residents in Maryland for 31 years and moved back to Wilmington following retirement. A current member of St. Matthew's Parish, he was also a member of Associazione Regionale Siciliano in Philadelphia, PA for 7 years. Joe enjoyed gardening, wine making, crabbing, traveling, baseball and his grandchildren. He will be remembered as a loving husband and father, a caring and fun loving grandfather, and a compassionate friend to all who knew him.

Joe is survived by his wife of 51 years, Barbara (Salamon) Pantano; his daughters, RoseAnn Miko and husband, Steve of Bear, DE, and Marianne Kunkel and husband, Rob of Bel Air, MD; his son, Frank J. Pantano and wife, Michelle of Wallingford, PA; and his grandchildren, Lauren, Kurt, Adriana, Isabella and Luca. He is also survived by his brothers, Salvatore, Anthony and Sebastian "Gene" Pantano; and several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to visit at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Pike Creek on Wednesday, July 9 from 4:00-8:00PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Matthew's Church, 901 E. Newport Pike, Wilmington on Thursday, July 10 at 10:00AM. Entombment will follow in All Saints Cemetery.

Flowers will be gratefully accepted, or donations in memory of Joe may be made to St. Matthew's Parish, 901 E. Newport Pike, Wilmington, DE 19804.
