Anita Joy Kennedy
The Guest Book is expired.
Anita Joy Kennedy, age 86, most recently from Newark, Delaware, went home to our Lord on July 3rd, 2014, surrounded by her sons and their families. She passed away at home in Newark, Delaware.
Anita was born in San Gabriel, California as Anita Joy Crain. She grew up in Long Beach, California, attending the Polytechnic High School and City College. Over the years, she resided in many places in southern California, settling in Escondido. She moved to Newark, Delaware recently to be near her sons.
Anita's kitchen was the center of her home. She loved to cook, and her table was always a warm and comforting place. She also loved to travel, and she especially loved the outdoors. At the time of her death, she had visited 40 of our 50 states and much of Canada as well. Anita's true passion, though, was music. Her earliest memories were of going with her father to religious events and singing on stage. As she grew older, she sang in many venues, church choirs, camp fires, coffee shops, karaoke bars, and many more, entertaining and delighting everyone. Anita's greatest gifts to the world were two healthy and happy sons with wonderful families of their own. They love Anita very much, as do most people who have met her. The world has lost a beautiful spirit.
Anita was preceded in death by her husband, Richard D. Kennedy (1993) and her husband, Robert N. Dinger (1956). She is survived by her sons, Dann Kennedy ( Monina) and Robert N. Kennedy (JoAnn); 5 grandchildren, Erin, Lauren, Christian, Charles (Xiaochun), and Danielle; 3 great-grandchildren, Angelina, Christopher, and Elliott; by 2 sisters, Patricia (Crain) Phillips and Donna (Crain) McAdam.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday, July 10th at 11 a.m. in St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 345 Bear-Christiana Road (DE Rt. 7), Bear, DE, where family and friends may visit from 10 to 11 a.m. Burial will be held privately by the family.
