Frank Raniszewski Jr.

AGE: 94 • Wilmington

Frank Raniszewski, Jr. 94 passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Monday, July 7, 2014, at Seasons Hospice, Christiana Hospital. Frank was born on December 16, 1919, son of the late Pelagia and Frank Raniszewski, Sr.

Frank was a lifetime member of St. Stanislaus Kostka Church where he served as a Eucharist Minister and was a member of its Holy Name Society. Frank owned and operated Frank's Café at 8th & Church Streets until 1974. He then worked in security at Mellon Bank until retiring in 1984.

Frank served as a proud veteran of the US Navy. He served his country with honor during World War II as a Motor Machinist's Mate First Class. Frank served in the Pacific Theatre until 1945 where he saw action aboard the battleship, USS North Carolina.

From a very young age, Frank enjoyed training and racing homing pigeons. He also enjoyed crabbing. Nothing made him happier than being with his family.

Frank is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 64 years, Albina "Beanie" Raniszewski; son, Frank; son, Edward and wife, Kathy; daughter, Kathy and husband Jim Croom; grandchildren, Katie Raniszewski and Sarah and husband Bill Burton; great-grandchildren, Ryley and Benaiah Burton; brother, John and wife Toni and sister-in-law, Carolyn Raniszewski. He was predeceased by his sister, Helen "Tookie" Raniszewski and brother, Charles. He will be dearly missed by his loving family and friends.

A special thank you to the caring staff at Manor Care- Pike Creek, Franciscan Care Center, the 3D unit at Christiana Hospital and Seasons Hospice.

Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Saturday, July 12, 2014, at 10 am in St. John the Beloved Church, 907 Miltown Rd., Wilmington, DE 19808. Visitation for Frank will held on Saturday, July 12, 2014 from 8:30-9:40 am at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road ,Wilmington, DE 19808. Burial will follow Mass in Gracelawn Memorial Park Cemetery, New Castle, De.
