Elizabeth Marie Snell Obituary
Elizabeth Marie Snell

AGE: 93 • Wilmington

Elizabeth Marie Snell, of Wilmington, DE, formerly of Warminster, PA and Port St. Lucie, FLA, passed away on July 11, 2014, thus completing a long, slow and miserable slog to her grave. She was born in Philadelphia, PA, the youngest child of William Peter Diehl and Elizabeth Tiernan Diehl.

Until a series of strokes which began in 2003, Liz enjoyed a rich and active life. She loved dancing, stylish clothes, high heel shoes and Manhattans. She was very proud of her employment as a defense worker at the Frankford Arsenal during WWII. She worked for many years at Bell Telephone and for 27 years as an executive secretary at Fischer & Porter Company in Warminster, PA. Upon her retirement Liz moved to Port St. Lucie, FLA where she was active in many social and civic affairs, especially enjoying the Commodores Club and the Port St. Lucie Yacht Club. Liz traveled extensively to Europe and the Far East and enjoyed many cruises to exotic places.

Her four husbands all preceded her in death. They were Thomas Foley, Delbert J. Boyer, Francis A. Doty and George K. Snell. She is survived by her two children, daughter Catherine Mulholland and her husband Kenneth, with whom she lived, and son William Foley and his wife Barbara, of Cinnaminson, N.J. She is also survived by four granddaughters, Maureen Gottlieb and her husband Howard of Langhorne, PA, DeAnna Holland and her husband Robert of Cherry Hill, NJ, Lauren Neidert and her husband Brian of Cinnaminson, NJ and Taryn Gillison and her husband Edwardo, of La Jolla, CA and one grandson, Stephen Mulholland and his companion, Tamara Duran, of Wellington, New Zealand. She is also survived by her dearly loved stepdaughter-in-law Annette Thomas and her husband Robert of Hollywood, FL and two special step-granddaughters, Gina Thomas of Hollywood, FL and Eileen Sharr of Glenolden, PA.

The family would like to thank the many friends whose calls and visits made Liz's final years the best they could be. Special thanks especially to Helen Hickam and Nancy Hillyard, Helena Bauchwitz, Carole Bothell, Fran Carter, Jack and Joyce Manchester and Teresa McLaughlin. Thanks also to Desiree Allicock of Heartland Hospice for her tender care.

A memorial service will be scheduled at a time convenient for family and friends. No flowers please.
