James E. "Junior" Tarburton, Jr.

AGE: 89 • Wilmington

James "Junior" Tarburton, age 89, of Wilmington, DE, passed away on Friday, July 18, 2014 at the Heartland Hospice House in Pike Creek, DE. James was born to the late James E. Tarburton, Sr. and Mazie (Carey) Tarburton in Coatesville, PA.

James proudly served his country in the U. S. Army Air Corp during WWII. James met the love of his life, Pauline Wicker in Blytheville, AR, and they married in Mobile, AL in 1945. They spent 61 years together before she passed away in 2006. He retired from ARCO in 1986. He worked part-time after retirement at AMF Price Lanes.

James devoted his life to his family and friends. He was also a member of the New Castle Moose Lodge 1578 and enjoyed camping with the Delaware Rolling Wheels, the Good Sam Club, and the Family Campers and RVers. He enjoyed bowling, collecting vintage trucks, and loved country music.

In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his wife Pauline and son John Tarburton; sister and brother-in-law, Rose and George Reed. He is survived by five sons, James E. Tarburton III, Larry (Marianne) Tarburton, Donald Tarburton, Kenneth (Beth) Tarburton, Thomas (Betty) Tarburton; six grandchildren, Linc (Devon), Kent (Shari), Kimberly, Allison, Kyle, and Tommy; two great-grandchildren, Ava and Cole James; two nieces, Mazie (Bill) Mattson and Sue (Pete Kress) Reed, and many other relatives and close friends.

Friends and family may call on Wednesday, July 23, 2014 from 6-8 p.m. at the MCCRERY & HARRA FUNERAL HOME, 3710 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, DE 19808 where a service will be held on Thursday July 24th at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in Gracelawn Memorial Park.
