John E. Morris, Sr.

AGE: 75 • Middletown

John E. Morris, Sr., 75, of Middletown, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, July 16, 2014.

John was born on August 15, 1938 to Carl & Dorothy Morris. John graduated from Delaware City High School in 1956. He served his country as Staff Sergeant with the United States Army and the Army National Guard of Delaware. He was a Master Mason and a member of Jackson Lodge No. 19 in Delaware City.

He was a 38 year member of the Carpenter's Local Union 626, his career included several years as site superintendent for Irwin and Schwartner. He concluded his career as President of I & S/HSI a Hake Group Company.

John enjoyed restoring classic cars, and was a member of the National Street Rod Association; he also enjoyed family vacations to Disney World in Orlando, FL.

He was preceded in death by his father, Carl H. Morris, Sr., mother, Dorothy Lynch Morris, and brother, Carl H. Morris, Jr.

John is survived by his wife of 53 years, Patricia Armstrong Morris, their children, Patricia R. Chase (Bruce) of Millville, Penny E. Czerwinski (Edward) of Townsend, John E. Morris, Jr. (Kristine) of Townsend, a brother Gerald L. Morris (Rachel) of Port Penn, and four grandchildren; Megan Czerwinski, Melanie Czerwinski, Ryan Morris, and Eric Morris.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 24, 2014 at Daniels & Hutchison Funeral Home, 212 N. Broad Street, Middletown, DE 19709 from 10:00 - 11:30 am. The service will begin at 11:30 am. Following the service, committal with Military Honors will be at 1:00 pm at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, DE 19701.
