Richard "Freckle" "Mack" McDonaugh, age 83, of Elkton, MD, formerly of Kennett Square, PA, passed away on Thursday, July 24, 2014, at his residence, surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Delores Sluder McDonaugh, with whom he shared 57 years of marriage. Born in Kennett Square, PA, he was the son of the late John J. and Edyth Fulton McDonaugh. He worked at Chrysler Corporation, Newark, DE, retiring in 1998, after 40 years of service. He was a member and past President of UAW Local No. 1183, Newark, DE, where he had served as an Union official for 22 years. Mr. McDonaugh enjoyed feeding birds, yard sales, animals, and being with his family and friends. He never met a stranger. He served his country in the U.S. Navy and was a lifetime member of the VFW in Kennett Square and a member of the American Legion also in Kennett Square.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Richard E. "Lil Mack" McDonaugh, Jr., of Newark, DE; one daughter, Sandra L. McDonaugh McVaugh and her husband Randy of Hockessin, DE; a special niece/daughter, Sonya Francois; three brothers, James McDonaugh of Avondale, PA, William McDonaugh of Coatesville, PA and Robert McDonaugh of Landenberg, PA; one sister, Betty Burnett of West Grove, PA; one grandson, Richard E. McDonaugh, III and his wife Ronnina; three great grandchildren, Rion McDonaugh, Makeysia Davis and Jyasia Davis, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one brother, Jack McDonaugh and one sister, Lucy Couden.
You are invited to visit with his family and friends from 6:00 to 8:00 Tuesday evening, July 29, 2014 and again from 10:00 to 11:00 on Wednesday morning, July 30, at the Kuzo & Grieco Funeral home, 250 West State Street. Kennett Square, PA. His funeral service will follow at 11:00. Burial will be in Union Hill Cemetery, route 82, Kennett Square, PA.
