Of New Castle and Wilmington, DE died peacefully on Sunday June 19, 2005, at home, surrounded by his loving family.
Carl was born and raised in Wilmington, son of Carl E.W. and Doris Hauger. He graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School in 1961, attended the University of Delaware, where he received a BA degree in criminal justice and an MA degree in education. He furthered his education at Wilmington College, earning EdD degree in educational leadership in 1997. Carl was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church. Carl was a former teacher and administrator at the Alexis I. duPont, Red Clay, Smyrna and Area II New Castle County school districts. He worked with the University of Delaware and the Department of Education on various grants and programs involving technology in education. Most recently he was supervisor of academics/instruction technology at Colonial School District, retiring in 2005. Carl had a passion for life that included many interests - farming, flying, music, travel and computers. He was a longtime member and past president of Fort Delaware Society. Carl was a very active member of the Delaware Radio Control Club (remote control flying), including their annual War Birds Over Delaware festival. Carl had been active in community theater including Wilmington Drama League and The Brandywiners. He had his pilot's license and was a certified scuba diver. Carl was very devoted to his family and friends and lived in New Castle County his whole life except for a 2-year stint in St. Croix, USVI.
Carl will be sadly missed by his mother, Doris; brothers, Paul and Eric, both of Wilmington; sister, Melissa Moss and her husband, Lawrence, of Oakland, CA; and nephew, Jeffrey Moss, also of Oakland, CA; his extended family; and all those friends Carl made throughout his life. Carl was preceded in death by his father, Carl E.W. Hauger, Sr., in 1998.
Family and friends are invited to Carl's Life Celebration on Sunday, June 26, 2005, at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, 501 Duncan Road, Cragmere, Wilmington, at 1 pm. Interment will be private.
