Kenneth Poplos Obituary
U.S. Marine Corps
Passed away suddenly on December 30, 2010. He was the son of Kenneth W. and Nancy C. (nee Pidgeon) Poplos.
Kenny was proud to be a U.S. Marine and was to start active duty this winter, deploying to Afghanistan in the spring. He graduated from Hodgson Vocational Technical H.S. where he majored in auto mechanics. He played and enjoyed soccer and lacrosse for Hodgson as well. He was a member of Volunteer Hose Company of Middletown Station #1. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, 4-wheeling, and most outdoor activities . He had worked at Newark Chrysler Jeep during high school and continued there after graduation until deciding to join the Marines. Kenny always had a loving heart, a contageous smile and would help or do anything for anyone.
In addition to his parents, Kenny is survived by his brother Nicholas R.; grandparents: John and Janet Poplos and Walter and Joanne Pidgeon, 5 aunts, 3 uncles, great aunt Sandi and uncle Jimmer, and many cousins and friends. He loved his dog Abby, who passed away recently while he was at Combat Engineer Training at Camp Lejuene, North Carolina.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the viewing on Tuesday, January 4, 2011 from 6-8 pm and on Wednesday, January 5, from 10-11 am, at Volunteer Hose Company of Middletown Station #27, 27 West Green St., Middletown DE 19709. The funeral service will start at 11:00 a.m. at the fire house. Interment will follow.

Ken and Nancy, I have been thinking every day about Kenny since the 30th and your family. Kenny was loved by so many and he will be missed greatly. The services was done so beautiful honoring such a loving young man. Please know that you are not alone. Please reach out to those who want to be there for you. We will be your support group. My son played soccer and lacrosse with Kenny at Hodgson. I have always remembered the excellent goal keeper with the curly hair, beautiful smile and outstanding personality. He was loved by everyone who met him. Truly an exceptional young man, he will be forever missed and loved by all that knew him. Our thoughts are with his family.

My two kids went to Hodgson with Kenny and my son played soccer and lacrosse with him as well...he was an awesome player...I can still see him as goalie with that curly hair of his. He had made so many accomplishments and held a bright future as a proud Marine...and he was taken way too soon from you...you should be proud of the young man he became.

We cannot imagine the sadness you are feeling with loss of your son and brother. While it has been some time since we have seen you it seems like yesterday that the boys were playing together on the Rampage. To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.

That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."
It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.
God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.
And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
