Lynn Brown Gabbert

Age 70, of Lewisburg, WV formerly of Hockessin, DE passed away on August 18, 2011, at Greenbrier Valley Medical Center in Fairlea after a long courageous battle with cancer.

He was a retired employee with Hercules, Inc. with 37 years of service and spent most of that time in Wilmington, DE. Brown was an avid WVU fan since 1959, starting while listening to the radio when Jerry West played at WVU. He had served with U. S. Coast Guard during the Vietnam War and was with the Honor Guard serving General MacArthur. Brown had coached recreation league basketball for 20 years as well as coached girls softball.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Cynthia G. Pennington and his parents Carl "Shorty" and Emma Kellison Gabbert. Those left to cherish his memory includes his wife of 50 years, Norma Bowes Gabbert; a daughter Lori and husband John of Ridgeley, WV and a son Eric and wife Nicole of Wilmington, DE; his grandchildren, Ryan, Andrew, Matthew and Christopher Kenney; Alyssa and Isabella Gabbert. Brothers Mike Gabbert of Lewisburg, Jerry Gabbert of Barboursville, WV and sister Myrna Pritt of Verona, VA.

Friends may visit with the family from 6-9 pm on Saturday, August 20, at Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home in Lewisburg. A private burial will be held at a later date.
