Joan Bennett Tease

Age 80, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 8, 2012 at Brandywine Assisted Living, Rehoboth Beach, DE. She was born December 16, 1931 in Camden, NJ, daughter of the late John and Gertrude (O'Neill) Bennett.

Mrs. Tease was a graduate of the Lankenau Hospital School of Nursing in Wynnwood, PA. She worked as a Registered Nurse at Lankenau Hospital, Milford Memorial Hospital in Milford, DE and at St. Francis Hospital in Wilmington, DE from which she retired in 1989. Mrs. Tease was a devout Catholic who professed her faith by teaching catechism classes in her parish, St. John the Apostle, Milford. Joan enjoyed reading, history, gardening, her family and dear friends. She loved spending time with her grandchildren. She was also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary at Milford Memorial Hospital. She was a great cook and a Matriarch with strong family values who took great pride in caring for others. She always had a smile and was ready with a helping hand. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years the Honorable Claud L. Tease and by three brothers: John Bennett, Robert Bennett and William Bennett. She is survived by two sons: Christopher D. Tease and wife Alyssa of Garnet Valley, PA and Jeffrey J. Tease of Rehoboth Beach, DE; three grandchildren: Jacob Tease, Maura Tease and Rhiannon Tease; two sisters: Peggy Stoeckinger and husband John of Lexington, KY and Terry Westcott and husband Bill of Aston, PA; and her dear friend, Karen Begley of Dover, DE.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on May 16 at 11 am at St. Edmond Catholic Church, 409 King Charles Avenue, Rehoboth Beach, DE where friends may visit beginning at 10:30 am. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Mrs. Tease's honor may be made to the Arthritis Foundation, Mid Atlantic Region, 900 Prides Crossing, Newark, DE 19713, please note on check that contribution should support Rheumatoid Arthritis.
