Evelyn Green Goldberg

Evelyn Green Goldberg died peacefully at her home on May 30, 2012.

"Evvy" was married to Dr. Edwin A. Goldberg ("Pete") for 67 years and is survived by him; their daughters Judith Apy and Lynn Goldberg and their son Dr. Joseph Goldberg (Dory Zatuchni). She is also survived by her grandchildren, Abbie Goldberg Lobley (Brent) and Peter Goldberg (Jennifer); her great-grandchildren Mara and Quinn Lobley and her sister-in-law Florence "Fluff" Green. Evvy was predeceased by her parents, Bertha and State Senator Joseph B. Green, her brother Harold (Bud) Green and her sister Geraldine Green Berman.

Although Evvy was short in stature, she was a giant when it came to her attitude toward life. Her sense of humor was unsurpassed. She was also a master of the New York Times crossword puzzles (in ink), cryptograms and scrabble.

Evvy was active in local theater, including starring roles in Guys and Dolls and Once Upon A Mattress. Most recently, she was in a local production of The Vagina Monologues.

Evvy was a volunteer with, and loved working with, the Junior Board of Christiana Care and was a Braille transcriber for the Division of the Visually Handicapped. She was also a member of Congregation Beth Emeth, past president of the Sisterhood of Beth Emeth, and a member of Hadassah and the Kutz Home Auxiliary.

Funeral services will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Jewish Family Services of Delaware, 99 Passmore Road, Wilmington, DE 19803.
