Crawford B. "Dick" Holson

Dick Holson, of Georgetown, passed away on Tuesday, July 24, 2012, after a 3 year battle with cancer at the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford, with his family by his side. He was 85.
He was born in Georgetown, the only son of the late E. Warren and Olive (Bailey) Holson on February 27, 1927.
His High School education was interrupted near the end of World War II with service in the United States Marine Corps. He was very proud to call himself a Marine.
He was a lifelong member of Grace U.M. Church, serving on many committees and helping with many church affairs. He also held a life membership in the Georgetown Fire Co. He was a 32nd Degree Mason, belonging to Tall Cedars of Lebanon, Kent & Sussex Scottish Rite Club, and the American Legion.
He was an avid golfer, liked boating and fishing, any sports, especially football (Redskins) and baseball. He enjoyed any time the family was together.
His survivors include his loving wife, Marian Holson (nee Keeler), one son, William R. Holson (Carol Allen), daughters, Shirley H. Hitchens (Bill) and Mary H. Walls (Tony); six grandchildren, Billy Savage, Scott Hitchens, Robbie Holson, Joy McBride, Karen Walls and Carla Walls; three great-grandchildren, Parker Savage, Zachary Savage and Rylee McBride.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, July 27, at 1 pm in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 609 E. Market St., Georgetown, DE, where friends may call after 12 noon. Interment will be in Union Cemetery, Georgetown.
