Gregory W. Drummond, Sr., 63 of Wilmington, DE, passed away surrounded by his loving family after a courageous five year battle with cancer on Sunday, August 19, 2012.
Greg was born in Wilmington on May 30, 1949, son of the late Howard and Margaret (Perillo) Drummond. A veteran of the United States Army, Greg proudly served our country during the Vietnam War. He was employed with the United States Postal Service for 35 years, retiring in 2002 as an Expedited Service Specialist. He was also a graduate of Neumann University, having earned his Bachelor's Degree while continuing to work full-time.
Greg was an avid and dedicated Blue Hen football fan. He possessed a quick wit and an upbeat spirit, and was loved by all those fortunate to have known him.
Greg will be dearly missed by his wife of 44 years, Lynn (Essick) Drummond; his children, Sharlyn Curran and Gregory W. Drummond, Jr.; and his beloved grandsons, Zachary Drummond, and Cody and Colton Curran. He is also survived by his brother, Michael Drummond; his sisters, Patricia Denver and Faith Drummond; his niece, Charmaine Cloud and husband, Joe; and his great niece, Lily.
The family would like to thank the staff of the Helen Graham Cancer Center and Seasons Hospice, especially Malinda, for their care and compassion.
Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Greg's Life at White Clay Creek Country Club at Delaware Park, 777 Delaware Park Blvd., Wilmington on Saturday, August 25 from 1:00 - 4:00PM. Everyone is encouraged to share memories of Greg and enjoy lite fare.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Greg may be made to the Helen Graham Cancer Center, PO Box 1668, Wilmington, DE 19899.
