Gary Lee Watson Obituary
Age 48, of Middletown, DE, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 5, 2012 at Christiana Hospital with his loving wife by his side after he fought a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Wilmington, Delaware, Gary was a lifelong resident of the MOT area. He graduated from Middletown High School and went on to a successful career at the Delaware City Oil Refinery. Gary was a devoted husband, father, son, brother, uncle, cousin and friend and was loved by so many. He was an avid sports fan, having played football, baseball and wrestled in high school. His hobbies were playing basketball, softball, fishing and he loved to mountain bike, but his greatest LOVE was for his family. He was an incredible man with family values. He was selfless, had a sense of humor, kindhearted, loving.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Kevin Watson.

He is survived by his wife, Marlene (Taylor) Watson and his 2 children, Jordan Watson and Sophia Watson of Middletown. In addition, Gary is survived by his loving mother, Jeanette Watson of Townsend; brother, Larry Watson of Wilmington; sister, Debbie Watson of Kenton and his special twin sister, Sherry Watson of Townsend. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Patricia Taylor of Middletown; father-in-law, George Taylor of Bear; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, George and Amanda Taylor of Iowa, Renee Watson of Bear, and Austin and Sean Taylor of Annville, PA. Gary is survived by his Goddaughter and niece, Qourtney Ringgold; niece, Nicole Watson; 3 nephews, Jerret Watson, and Harrison and Payton Taylor (Iowa); godsons, Kimwan Reed and Jimell Weathersby; uncle, Dorsey Watson of Townsend; and 3 aunts, Mozelle Watson, Hazel Watson of Townsend and Sadie Watson of Smyrna. Also, he leaves to cherish his memory, Emma Jean Scarberry, a very devoted friend who was a second mother to him. He will forever be in the hearts of many cousins, family, and friends.

The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to Dr. S. Eric Martin, MD and his staff especially Rita, RN from the Helen Graham Center, the staff of Christiana Hospital 6B Oncology Floor and St. Francis Home Care.

A viewing will be held on Monday, September 10 from 4-7PM at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 345 Bear Christiana Rd, Bear, Delaware. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, September 11 at 10AM at St Elizabeth Ann Seton Church. Interment will follow the Mass in Gracelawn Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in Gary's memory be made to Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Delaware Chapter, 100 West 10th Street, Suite 209, Wilmington, DE 19801.
