Robert A. Murray

Robert A. Murray, age 88, of Newark, DE, passed peacefully in his home on Tuesday, October 2nd, 2012.

Bob was born on May 8, the son of the late George Paul and Julia Murray. He was one of 12 children who grew up on a farm in Newark, where he lived until 1943 when he joined the Navy. He always spoke highly of his days serving his country in WWII and of the days growing up. He retired from Chrysler Corp of Newark, DE in 1986.

Bob's best friend and loving wife Sylvia Lorraine Murray passed in August of 2011. They were married for 61 years. Bob was also predeceased by siblings George Murray, Louise Crater, Elizabeth Van Zant, Julian Murray, David Murray, Sarah Savage and Virginia Walls.

He is survived by his beloved daughter, Patricia Brouillette and her fiancé Bill Hutchison of Newark, DE. He will be remembered by his grandchildren Tara Brouillette of Quinton, NJ, Melanie Hutchison and Billy Hutchison of Bear, DE. He is also mourned by his great grandchildren Brooke, David and Jayden. He also leaves his 4 sisters Mabel Stafford, Dolly Moore, Nancy Jones and Eleanor Johnson, as well as many other nieces, nephews, family members and friends.

Bob was a longtime member of the VFW, American Legion and Moose. He was also a volunteer for Aetna Hose, Hook and Ladder for over 25 years.

The family would like to invite you to a celebration of Bob's life. Services will be held on Tuesday, October 9th at Beeson Funeral Home, 2053 Pulaski Hwy, Newark, DE 19702. Viewing will be from 10:45-11:45, services at 11:45, followed by a procession to the Delaware Veterans Cemetery at 1pm.
