Walter H. Bergmann Jr. Obituary
Walter H. Bergmann Jr., age 89, of West Grove, PA, died Saturday, October 27, 2012 at the Jenner's Pond Retirement Community in West Grove, PA.

He was the son of the late Walter H. Bergmann and Iva Brinton Bergmann and was predeceased by the first love of his life, Pat Kilmer Bergmann, in 2003. They met in Harrisburg, PA, and were married in 1953. They resided in Wilmington, DE, enjoyed nearly fifty years of marriage, and raised two daughters.

In 2004, Mr. Bergmann was married to the second love of his life, Alma Seebach, who survives. Both were members of Concord Presbyterian Church in Wilmington. In 2005, they moved to Jenner's Pond Retirement Community where they enjoyed traveling and participating in many of the activities that were available. They enjoyed eight years of marriage.

Mr. Bergmann was born in Egg Harbor City, NJ, reared in New Cumberland, PA, and graduated from high school there in 1941.

He was a World War II Navy veteran, having enlisted in 1942 and served as a Gunner's Mate in Alaska at Dutch Harbor and in the Aleutian Islands at Adak, at a Naval Magazine, as well as on three ships in the Southwest Pacific, the Caribbean, and the North Atlantic. The ships were the USS Varuna AGP 5, the USS Damato DD871, and the USS Gen. George O. Squire AP130, respectively.

A graduate of Temple University, he was employed as an accountant with the DuPont Company for 35 years in the Finance Department, retiring in 1985.

He was a member of P.T. Boats, Inc., Tin Can Sailors, and the Brinton Association of America, Inc. He enjoyed many forms of music, especially Jazz of the 1920's, 30's and 40's. His interest in Geneology led him to research the background of all four Grandparents.

In addition to his wife, Alma, he is survived by daughters Pamela J. Bergmann of Millsboro, DE, S. Elizabeth Pinter and husband Mark, of Lowden, IA; a brother Clark S. Baker of Camp Hill, PA, and a sister Joyce A. Warcholak of New Cumberland, PA; and six grandchildren Alan J. Bergmann, Cassandra K., Joshua J., Jared W., Kyle S. and Alyssa K. Pinter. Also surviving are stepchildren Steven and wife Mary Jane Seebach of Newbury Park, CA, Cathy and husband Ted Rigl of Pleasanton, CA, Jayne and husband Theron vanDusen of Chapel Hill, NC, and David Seebach of Petaluma, CA.

Family and friends are invited to visit with Walter's family from 10 – 11:00am Friday, November 2, at Jenner's Pond Retirement Community, Allison Building, 2000 Greenbriar Lane West Grove PA 19390. A memorial service will follow at 11:00 am.

Contributions in his memory may be made to the Benevolent Care Fund of Jenner's Pond at the aforementioned address, Concord Presbyterian Church or The Helen Graham Cancer Center.
