Age 90, of Newark, DE passed away on Saturday, October 27, 2012.

Angelo was born on July 28, 1922 in Newark, DE to the late Angelo and Bessie (George) Cataldi. He was a 1940 graduate of Newark High School and received his Bachelor's Degree in 1950 from the University of Delaware, where he played football. He later received his Master's Degree in 1968 from UD. Angelo served in both the Pacific & European Theatres during his four years in the Army during World War II. While serving he was awarded a Bronze Star and Purple Heart.

Angelo was a teacher and administrator for several schools in Red Clay School District. He retired as principal of Claymont Middle School. He was also known as the owner of Angie's Sub Shop on Wilbur Street in Newark, DE. Angelo was a member of many associations, which include; the Newark Lions Club, the Newark Senior Center, Newark Country Club, the Optimist Club of Newark and American Legion Post #10.

He is survived by his brothers, Ottavio Cataldi of Sebastian, FL and Domenico Cataldi of Menifee, CA; half sister, Lee Wright of Valrico, FL; half brother, Dennis Cataldi of Bear, DE; foster daughter, Joyce Taylor of Philadelphia, PA, and many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth (Griest) Cataldi in 2010.

Visitation will be held from 7:00 - 9:00 pm on Friday, November 9, 2012 at R.T. Foard and Jones Funeral Home, 122 West Main Street, Newark, DE. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Saturday, November 10, 2012 at St. John's Roman Catholic Church, 200 E. Main Street, Newark, DE 19711.
