Walter P. Hession

Age 78, of Claymont, DE, passed away on November 5, 2012, surrounded by his family.

Mr. Hession was an accountant for I.U. International. He was a Navy veteran of the Korean War. He enjoyed going to Pot Nets and loved spending time with his wife, his nieces and his nephews. Walt also enjoyed bowling and fishing.

Walt was a very active member of the Claymont Lions Club since he joined in February of 1986. He served as Club Treasurer and chaired the Vo-Tech Award Committee for many years. He was Club President in 2001-2002 and Zone Chair for 2002-2003. As District 22-D Cabinet Treasurer in 2003-2004, he was awarded an International President's Certificate of Appreciation. He was selected as the Claymont Lions Club Lion of the Year in 2009 and his service was recognized with a James McCarty Fellow, a Progressive Ralph Helm Fellow and a Melvin Jones Fellow.

Walt is survived by his wife of 53 years, Genevieve (Albanese) Hession; his sister, Mary Hession Stevens of Wilmington; several nieces, nephews; great-nieces, great-nephews; great-great nieces and great-great nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Thursday morning, November 15, at 11 am at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 3200 Philadelphia Pike, Claymont, DE 19703. Burial will be in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear. Friends may call at the GEBHART FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Philadelphia Pike, Claymont, DE 19703 on Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Claymont DE Lions Club Foundation, Inc., c/o Mr. Richard Gackenbach, Treasurer, 3704 Pimlico Place, Garnet Valley, PA 19060.
