Age 94, of New Castle, DE went home to be with our Lord Jesus on Monday, November 12, 2012 and to reunite with her beloved husband "Bill" on their 70th Wedding Anniversary.

Ruth was born in Athens, PA on May 6, 1918. She graduated from the Robert Packer Hospital School of Nursing in 1939 as a registered nurse. In 1942, she worked at the Veterans Hospital, Coatesville, PA where she met her husband. While Bill was serving as a U.S. Marine in WWII, Ruth worked as a drill press operator at Bellanca Airfield in New Castle, DE. She truly enjoyed crocheting beautiful baby blankets and afghans for her family, listening to a variety of music, especially Lawrence Welk, ballroom dancing, and the love of Milky Ways.

Mom was a devout Catholic who practiced her faith daily. She expressed true love, kindness, generosity, and being surrounded by her family brought her the most joy. Mom will be deeply missed and no words can express what is truly in our hearts.

Mom is survived by her sons: Willard David, Daniel, Stephen and wife Bonnie, Paul Gerald and wife Brenda; daughter, Ellen M. Saienni and husband Michael; close family friend, Jackie Sturgis; 20 grandchildren; and 8 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Williard W. "Bill" Sturgis; beloved daughter, Linda Jane Kalmbacher; parents, Charles J. and Agnes Rockett; 3 brothers and 3 sisters.

A visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday, November 15, 2012 at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, 801 N. DuPont Highway, New Castle, DE from 12pm-1pm followed by a private Mass and Christian Burial. To express an online condolence, visit
