Robert Norman Schmitt Obituary
Robert Norman Schmitt

Age 64, known fondly as "Rob", of Wilmington, DE, passed away suddenly on June 7, 2012, in St. Augustine, FL. He was born March 9, 1948, in Mineola, NY, to Ethel B. Schmitt Clark and Frederick E. Schmitt Jr.

The family moved to Wilmington when he was very young, and he grew up in Brandywine Hundred. Rob was graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School (1966), Dickinson College in Carlisle, PA, and the University of Baltimore School of Law.

He was predeceased by his father. In addition to his mother, Rob is survived by his brothers, Frederick E. III (Julia) of Wilmington, Donald B. (Suzanne) of Wilmington, NC, Alan R. of Hague, VA, and Paul H. (Susan) of Menlo Park, CA; his sister Evelyn S. Schauber (Francis) of Chestertown, MD; and many nieces and nephews.

A member of the Pennsylvania Bar, Rob practiced in Lancaster and later in Kemblesville, PA. A self-made computer expert, he also enjoyed working on cars (especially Volvos). His other interests were to call talk shows to voice his opinions, cook his favorite meals, travel the east coast, surf the web, and learn about his family history.

Appearing larger than life at times, he could be very entertaining with his stories and will be missed for his thoughtfulness and wit. A remembrance tribute will be held November 24 from 5 to 9 pm at the Deer Park Tavern, 108 W. Main Street, Newark, DE.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate your making a donation to the in Rob's name.
