Robert F. Sullivan Obituary
Robert F. Sullivan

Robert "Bob" Sullivan passed away peacefully on Wednesday November 28, 2012 at his home in Wilmington with his family at his side.

Bob and his twin brother Carl were born in 1928, sons of the late Arthur and Rose Sullivan of Providence, Rhode Island. As a young man, Bob served with the US Army in the Korean War. He then went on to graduate from the Rhode Island School of Design with a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering. After graduation, he moved to Delaware where he had a 38 year career with the DuPont Company as a patent draftsman in the Legal Department. He met his wife, Genevieve Doberstein, at a dance at the DuPont Country Club and they married in 1958. Bob and Genny lived in Delaware and raised their family until their retirement in 1990. They then spent seven years living in Sun City West, AZ and traveling before returning to Delaware in 1997.

His greatest passion was the game of golf, which he played and studied for many years.

Bob was an honest, kind and caring man and he will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. His family would like to extend their deepest thanks to all of those who cared for him at the end of his life.

Bob is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Genevieve. He is also survived by three children; Michael and his partner Ed Barton, of Somerville, MA, Dan of Wilmington, DE, Leslie Bastianelli and her husband, Paul of Wilmington DE; and his two grandsons, Luke and Evan. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Bob is predeceased by his brother Carl and his older brother Arthur.

Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 am on Monday December 3, at the Church of the Holy Child, 2500 Naaman's Road, Wilmington. Friends may visit at CHANDLER FUNERAL HOMES, 2506 Concord Pike, Wilmington from 5 to 7 pm on Sunday December 2, 2012.
