Albert James Burridge Obituary
Albert James

Hallelujah! Went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Saturday, December 15, 2012.

He suffered hearing loss as a child and could not serve in the armed forces. He was part of the C.C.C. during the depression. He worked at Continental Can Co as a coal miner for 11 years along side his father, becoming a foreman and safety officer. Then through sheer will and his faith in God, he became a welder and moved to Delaware. He worked at the oil refinery in Delaware City, Graver Tank, National Vulcanized Fiber, and retired from Westinghouse in Lester, PA.

The most important part of his life was his service to God which took the form of reviving a church, teaching Sunday School, preaching, and playing his harmonica (at nursing homes in his later years). He was always ready to share the gospel. Mr. Burridge was a member of Praise Assembly. He loved baseball and was an avid Phillies fan.

He was predeceased by his wife, Betty Harris Burridge, his parents, David and Mary Grace Burridge, 12 of his siblings and his daughter, Nancy. He is survived by his sister, Betty Timko, his daughters, Laura Whalen (Michael) and Charlene Vafakos (James), nine grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter with a second one due in April, all of whom he loved dearly.

The funeral service will take place Friday morning, December 21, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. at Praise Assembly, 1421 Old Baltimore Pike, Newark, DE 19702. Burial will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park. Friends may call at the church on Friday morning from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to Praise Assembly, P.O. Box 9025, Newark, DE 19714-9025.
