Age 72, of Wilmington, DE passed away on December 12, 2012.

Neil was born in Brockton, MA in 1940 and was the son of the late William and Catherine Fongeallaz. He was a graduate of Widener University. Neil worked for many organizations during his career including Phoenix Steel, Franklin Mint and retired from Boeing in 2003 after 19 years.

He was an active member of the United Methodist Church of the Atonement where he held many chairmanships. He was a past member of the Brandywine School Board for 13 years. Also, he was a past president and board member of the Claymont Community Center for 7 years and was a 25 year member of the Claymont Loyal Order of the Moose and was a 30 year member of the Masonic Lodge Lafeyette #14 A.F. & A.M.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Charlene, of 46 years and his children, Dennis Fongeallaz, Neil Fongeallaz II and his fiancé Katelyn Cardy, Dr. Nicole Stoessel and husband David Stoessel, and his daughter-in-law Julie Mitchell. He was preceded in death by his son, Kirke Mitchell, his grandson, Justin Stoessel, his daughter-in-law, Marie Fongeallaz and his two brothers Noel and Raymond Fongeallaz. He leaves behind his brother, William Fongeallaz. Neil has 11 grandchildren that he loved dearly. His greatest joy was spending time with his family.

There will be a memorial service at Atonement United Methodist Church, 3519 Philadelphia Pike, Claymont, DE 19703 at Noon on Saturday, December 22, 2012. Visitation will be from 10am to 12pm Saturday morning at the church, where a masonic service by Lafayette Lodge # 14 A.F. & A.M. will be held at 11:45 am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Neil E. Fongeallaz, Sr. Memorial Fund, Attn: Nicole Stoessel, c/o TD Bank, 1803 Marsh Road, Wilmington, DE 19810; or Atonement United Methodist Church Building Fund at the above address.
