Florence "Floss" Evelyn Copley
The Guest Book is expired.
Florence "Floss" Evelyn Copley, a long resident of Claymont, DE, died at age 99 on February 1, 2013 at the home of her daughter in Allentown, PA after a long life well lived. At the time of her transition Florence was surrounded by the spirit of her son, her three daughters and her son-in-law. She attributed her long, happy and content life to her unwavering faith in God and the love and support of her family.
Florence was born in Scottdale, PA to Elizabeth (Slavin) and Charles Boyer. In 1925 she graduated from Scottdale High. Growing up in a sleepy, little, steel mill town Florence could often be found helping her widowed grandmother cook for the elite of the area or dancing with the traveling minstrel shows that were popular in that time. In 1933 Florence married Francis J. Copley (Hank) in St. Petersburg, FL where Mr. Copley's mother was wintering for the season. Her adult life revolved around her four children, nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
Florence was an active member of Holy Rosary Church since 1956. When not busy with her large family Florence volunteered at her church, played bridge, visited Atlantic City and dined out. Florence was best known for her love of children and their love for her.
Florence was predeceased by her son, William Edward Copley, Sr. She is survived by her daughter-in-law Trudy Hazzard Copley; her three daughters, Florine Joy and her husband Edward J. Burkhard of Allentown, PA, Elizabeth Ann Honnold of Hendersonville, NC, Mary Jane Copley of Wilmington, DE; her grandchildren, William Edward Copley, Jr., Becky Burkhard, Cathy Copley and her husband Gary Maxwell, Joey Copley and his wife Catrina, Jonathan Copley Breen, Zane Honnold and his wife Heather, Jerome Copley, Elizabeth Schiavone, Meagan Honnold Johnson and her husband Schorr; and her great-grandchildren Jake, Jordan, Carly and Liam Breen, Evelyn Shiavone, Alec, Owen and Emery Honnold and little Billy and Annabelle Copley.
