1942 - 2013 Obituary Condolences
James L. "Jimmy" Phillips Obituary
James L. Phillips

Mr. James L. Phillips, age 70 of Newark and Rehoboth Beach, DE, passed away on February 12, 2013.

Jimmy was born in Wilmington, DE on March 21, 1942, son of the late Leo and Margaret (Brown) Phillips. He was a proud graduate of Salesianum High School, class of 1961. He worked as a transmission specialist for Liberty Buick, offering 25 years of exemplary service, and later retired from JP Morgan Chase. Jimmy was a longtime member of the Wilmington Elks Lodge 307 and also enjoyed membership with the Rehoboth Beach VFW. Affectionately called "MacGyver" by his devoted wife, Nancy, there was no situation Jimmy couldn't handle, and nothing he couldn't fix. He was selfless and reliable, always willing to lend a hand in both of the communities in which he resided.

Jimmy is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Nancy (Stipo) Phillips; daughter, Joann Phillips Hanrahan (Tim); grandchildren, Meaghan, Kieran, and Brendan; brother, Stephen A. Phillips (Sharon) of VA; and nieces, Jennifer Phillips Shepley (Tom) and Karen Phillips Holt (Mark).

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph on the Brandywine, 10 Old Church Rd. in Greenville, DE, on Saturday, February 23 at 10:30 am. Entombment will follow in Cathedral Cemetery, 2400 Lancaster Ave. in Wilmington, DE. Visitation will be held at the church on Saturday morning, prior to mass, from 9:15-10:15 am.

Please OMIT flowers.
