Age 90, of Wilmington, DE, passed away at Wilmington Hospital on Sunday, February 10, 2013.
Born in Wilmington, William was the son of the late Alexander and Elizabeth Golebiewski. He began his career with the DuPont Company as a junior draftsman but left to serve in the US Army during World War II. He was stationed in Palau and the South Pacific. When his military service was completed, he returned to DuPont where he worked in mechanical design and engineering until his retirement in 1985 after 47 years of service.
He was a member of St. Mary Magdalen Church and the Elks Lodge 307 and was a former member of the Polish Library. His hobbies included bowling and woodworking. An avid sports fan, he enjoyed following Duke Basketball, the Phillies and the Eagles.
He will be dearly missed by his wife of 60 years, Henrietta (Dobraniecki) Golebiewski; his sons and daughters-in-law, William Jr. and Sharon of Santa Clarita, CA and Robert and Cindy of Wilmington; his grandchildren, Dr. Stefanie Golebiewski-Manchin and her husband, Paul, Ashlee Fraser and her husband, Luke, and Victoria Golebiewski; and three great grandchildren, Logan, Payton and Ali.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, February 18 at 11:30 Aamat St. Mary Magdalen Church, Concord Pike and Sharpley Road, Wilmington where friends are invited to visitation after 10:30 am. Interment will follow at All Saints Cemetery, Wilmington.
