Laura "Beth" Mulford, age 47, passed away on Monday, February 11, 2013. Beth was born in 1965 in Wilmington, DE. She attended Woodland Country Day School and graduated from Sanford School. She attended Lynchburg College and graduated from Salisbury State University with a bachelor's degree in nursing. She attended Widener University graduating with a master's degree in nursing, with a specialty in burn, emergency, trauma. She was a member of the Sigma Theta Tau Nursing Honor Society.
She worked at Saint Francis Hospital in the emergency department and cardiac cath laboratory. She later worked at DuPont Pharmaceuticals in the Patient Safety Unit. She was most recently employed as a school nurse at the Centreville School. Beth was also an educator, teaching at Neumann College and Delaware Technical and Community College.
Beth was kind in spirit and generous with her time and talent, volunteering for the Delaware Special Olympics and as a Girl Scout troop leader. She volunteered for the Girl Scouts summer day camps and was a "Cookie Mom." Over the years, Beth and her husband John also served as volunteers at the Centreville School. Her friends and colleagues consider it a blessing and a privilege to have known her.
She is survived by her loving husband John, her daughters Christina and Katlyn, her father Bill Mahan, her mother Judith Mahan, brothers Bill (Sue) Mahan and Phil (Maryann) Mahan and nieces and nephews Mallory and Steven Mahan and Sam and William Mahan. She is predeceased by her maternal grandparents Phil and Abby Gibison and her paternal grandparents Harry Mahan and Edythe Shipe. She is also survived by several aunts, uncles and cousins.
A viewing will be held at the Woodside Funeral Home, 34 Oak Street, Salem, NJ 08079, on Friday, February 15, from 6 to 8 pm. A memorial service will be held at the Red Clay Creek Presbyterian Church, 500 McKennans Church Road, Wilmington, DE, at 11 am, Saturday, February 16. Burial will follow in Cohansey Baptist Cemetery, Roadstown, NJ.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Mulford Family Education Fund, c/o Artesians' Bank, 1706 Marsh Road, Wilmington 19810.
