Theresa passed away peacefully at home with her family on February 25, 2013. She was born on August 9, 1936.
She attended St. Thomas Grade School and AI DuPont High School in Wilmington.
After graduating from the School of Medical Technology at Wilmington General Hospital, Theresa was employed as a Medical Technician and Lab Technologist. She also worked in the office of Dr. Richard Gordon.
She married Henry Gambacorta on May 10, 1958.
Theresa loved gardening and to cook and bake for her family, and she also enjoyed golf and playing bridge. She was involved in many community organizations and activities including: Eucharistic Minister of the Sick for St. Peter the Apostle Church, New Castle Bicentennial Committee, Flower Beautification Committee of New Castle, The Ministry of Caring, Delaware Federation of Women's Clubs, St. Peters Sodality, New Castle Ovarian Cancer support group, and Colonial Garden Club.
Theresa loved to travel. She also loved going to the casinos in Atlantic City and spending summers at the family home in Longport, New Jersey .
Theresa was the daughter of the late Andrew and Carmelina (Robino) Tambourelli.
She is survived by her daughters, Edith Anne Gambacorta ( Thomas More Holland), Carmel, Andrea Guido (Tom Guido) and Renee Gambacorta . She is also survived by her brother, Alfred (Edie), her sister, Alma MacCallum (Thomas MacCallum); and her beloved grandchildren, Graziella Marie Holland, Harry Carter Holland, Kirkland Gray Locey and Maria Patricia Guido.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial at St. Peter R. C. Church, 5th & Harmony Sts., New Castle on Thursday, February 28, 2013 at 1 pm. Friends may call at the church from 10:30am-12:30pm Thursday morning. Interment in St. Peter R. C. Church Cemetery, New Castle.
In memory of Theresa , and in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Church of St. Peter the Apostle Organ Fund, 521 Harmony St., New Castle, DE 19720, or St. Vincent De Paul Society at the Church.
