Allen Shatley, 55, of Newark, DE, was received into the arms of Jesus, his savior, during an accident on February 21, 2013, Thompson Station Road near Newark.
Allen was born in Wilmington , DE to Lindsey and Josephine Shatley. He graduated from Thomas Mckean High School, University of Delaware and Chesapeake Theological Seminary.
Allen worked for Dupont at Stein-Haskell Lab 22 years and was currently employed at GlaxoSmithKline as a computer programmer analyst. He excelled at his work and he loved what he did.
Allen was an early member of Newark Christian Fellowship with pastor Bruce Latshaw. Then attended The Fellowship at Park Place and South College. He pastored Christ Covenant Church for 8 years which was a beautiful time of ministry in his life. After that he joined St. Michael the Archangel Orthodox Church, which felt like a peaceful homecoming after his labors.
Allen is survived by his wife of 34 years and high school sweetheart, Colleen; son Jeremy; daughters Courtney, Rachel, Melissa, her husband Sam and granddaughter Maura. He is predeceased by his father Lindsey but survived by his mother Josephine and sister Dianna Shatley.
Allen was a dedicated family man, bringing joy and comfort to his children. He had a booming laugh, a love for pets, a passion for gardening and music filled his heart.
A visitation will be held on Friday, March 1, from 6-8pm at St. Michael's the Archangel Orthodox Church, 2300 W. Huntington Dr(at Kirkwood Hwy), Wilmington, DE 19808. A Panikhida will be held at 7:30pm. A funeral service will be held at the church on Saturday, March 2, at 10am. Burial will follow in All Saints Cemetery.
