John J. Connell III
Age 62, of Wilmington passed away on Saturday, March 9, 2013.
Jack spent much of his youth in the mountains of Wilkes-Barre, PA with his many cousins where he developed his great passion for the outdoors. He was an avid boater, fisherman, hunter as well as an amateur racecar driver. As a young lad he attended Christ Our King then went on to graduate Salesianum High School in 1968. During his tenure at Sallies, he played football, where he earned the nickname "The Truck". He also participated in track & field where he was an accomplished high jumper leaping to heights above his own while using the fosbury flop technique.
A man of many words, Jack always had an entertaining and round about way of sharing life lessons pertinent to each person he met. Jack was mighty with a pen, distinguished with a camera and skilled with hands which built and repaired many homes, vehicles and objects labeling him as a "Jack of all trades". Jack proudly served his Country as a United States Marine living and dying by the motto, "Once a Marine, Always a Marine." He was recognized as an Honor Marine while enlisted during the Vietnam Era. SEMPER FI MARINE… HOORAH!
Jack was preceded in death by his Father, John J. Connell, Jr. and his Mother, Teresa A. Connell.
He is survived by his eldest daughter, Brandy Connell-Marando, her husband Thomas Marando, Jr.; his youngest daughter Jennifer Connell and son-in-law Jason Wilson; 7 grandchildren Brandon, Taylor, Anthony, Nicholas, Brianna, Mia & Shane.
