Jeffrey A. Walker, age 60, of New Castle, DE, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, March 18, 2013 with his family by his side after losing his courageous battle with cancer.
Jeff grew up in Avondale, PA, and was a graduate of Avon Grove High School and Penn State University. He started his career with New Castle County in 1974 as a seasonal employee and retired in 2008 from Special Services as the Internal Services Manager after 34 years of service. He was a huge Phillies fan and was looking forward to the start of the 2013 season.
Jeff is survived by his loving wife of 19 years, Debbie Walker; sons, Kyle of Pike Creek, Evan of Park City, UT; daughter, Katy of Newark; stepson, Christopher Marvel of Bear; sister, Louise Glickman (Arthur) of Clinton, ME; nephew, Ben Glickman (Lisa) of British Columbia; and niece, Jane Glickman of CA.
Jeff is also survived by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, John and Marti Reshetar; 3 sisters-in-law; 3 brothers-in-law; and many nieces and nephews. He will also be sadly missed by his four adopted feline girls: Julie, Tinker, Halle and Mary, all rescues from Forgotten Cats, Inc. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Bernice Walker; and a brother, David Walker.
The family would like to thank Delaware Hospice and Helen F. Graham Cancer Center for their care during Jeff's illness.
A visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, March 22, at Strano & Feeley Family Funeral Home, 635 Churchmans Road, Newark, DE 19702 from 6-8 pm and again on Saturday, March 23rd from 1pm-2pm followed by a service in celebration of Jeff's life at 2 pm.
