Joseph S. Pilli, 80 of Wilmington, DE, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, April 9, 2013.

Joe was born in Wilmington on May 29, 1932, son of the late Dominick and Jennie (Damiano) Pilli. He was employed as a specification engineer with General Motors, retiring after 33 years of dedicated service. He was also the successful owner of Betty Jo Ceramic Den, a small business in Wilmington for over 14 years. He was most recently employed part time with NuCar Chevrolet as a driver. Joe was a long time, devoted member of St. Matthew's Parish and a member of St. Anthony's Senior Center, where he enjoyed socializing and playing bingo. Joe enjoyed traveling, taking cruises with his family and vacationing at his beach home in Selbyville, DE where he served on the board of directors for the Swann Keys Civic Association. His greatest pleasure was being in the company of his beloved family and many friends, especially during the holidays. He was a dedicated husband and a loving father and grandfather. Pop-Pop, as he was known by many, will be remembered for his love of ice cream, cherries, the family celebration of Palm Sunday, his unique expressions, his willingness to chauffeur everyone around and his charitable nature.

Joe is survived by his wife of 61 years, Elizabeth "Betty" (Magazino) Pilli; his children, Daralice Takash and her husband, John, Joette Garner and her husband, Dave, Dominick Pilli, Esq. and Louis Pilli and his wife, Debora; his grandchildren, Shealynn Seaman and her husband, Chris, John Takash III, Ryan and Eric Pilli, and Jake and Adam Garner; his great grandson, Christopher Seaman; his sister, Rose Edwards; and his nieces, nephews, godchildren and many extended family members. Joe was predeceased by his brother, Francis Pilli.

Family and friends are invited to the visitation at St. Matthew's Church, 901 E. Newport Pike, Woodcrest on Saturday, April 13 from 10:00AM - 12:00PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00PM. Interment will be held privately.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Joe may be made to the St. Vincent dePaul Society, c/o St. Catherine of Siena Parish, 2503 Centerville Road, Wilmington, DE 19808 or the First Presbyterian Church of Port Penn, 8 E. Market Street, Port Penn, DE 19731.
