Anastasios Lempesis, "Mr. Tom", 77, of Wilmington, died suddenly on April 19, 2013.

Born in Astros, Greece, he immigrated to the U.S. in 1954 and was employed as a chef at numerous diners in NJ. With his wife, Dimitra, he relocated to Wilmington in 1974 and together, they opened their business, A&D Sub Shop, at 4th and Market Street which they operated for the next 25 years. An active member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, he was the kitchen coordinator of the church hall, and a key member of the Annual Greek Festival food preparation volunteers. In his spare time, he enjoyed gardening and was an avid fan of soccer and professional wrestling. Mr. Tom was a good man with a great sense of humor, who got along with everyone and was willing to go the extra mile to help people in need.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Dimitra, and their 2 daughters - Katina Lempesis Tsaganos (Dr. Robert Tsaganos) and Angelina Lempesis Thomas (Richard Thomas); 5 grandchildren: Alexa, George and Dimitri Tsaganos and Anastasia and Demetri Thomas; his sister, Eleni Pantazi; his brother, George Lempesis; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 11 am, Tuesday, April 23 at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, where a viewing will be held from 10 to 11 am. Interment will be at Lawn Croft Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 808 N. Broom St., Wilmington, DE 19806.
