Sharon Dougherty

Died April 25, 2013 at home surrounded by her loving family after a courageous battle with cancer.

Sharon was a 1961 graduate of Corpus Christi High School. She worked in the Steno Pool for the DuPont Company, and as a secretary for Retail Clerks Local Union. After raising her daughters she started her own business and retired in 1999.

Above and beyond, she was wife, mother, mom mom, aunt, sister, and dear friend. She always put others first, and was known for her personal touch.

She was the daughter of the late Roman and Amy Feret. Sharon is survived by her husband, Philip, of 46 years; her daughters, Melissa Shavico and her husband Vincent of Wilmington, DE, Heather Lear and her husband Joe of Mandeville, LA, and Megan Dougherty of Wilmington, DE; 5 grandchildren, Catherine, Joseph, Vincent, Collin, and Elizabeth; sister Pat and brother-in-law Richard Gillis of Wilmington, DE; brother, Raymond Feret of Newark, DE, and brother-in-law, Gerald Dougherty and his wife Barbara of Bradenton, FL; and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the Helen Graham Center, the nurses on the 6th Floor at Christiana Hospital, nurses from Christiana Care Home Health, and Seasons Hospice.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial at St. Thomas the Apostle R. C. Church, Bancroft Pkwy., Wilmington on Tuesday morning, April 30, 2013 at 11 am. Friends may call at Krienen-Griffith Funeral Home, 1400 Kirkwood Hwy., Elsmere on Monday evening, April 29, 2013 from 6-8 pm. Interment in All Saints Cemetery, Newark.
