Devoted Wife and Loving Mother
Following a determined battle against a long time illness, Sherry L. Ranauto, age 53, of Bear, died peacefully at home, surrounded by family and in the arms of her husband on Sunday April 28, 2013.
A champion pairs skater in her youth, Sherry was a proud graduate of William Penn High School. Sherry was an "MBNA Original", as well as a hardworking Education Manager for Simm Associates. However, it was Sherry's full time career as a loving and caring mother where she truly shined. She treasured the company of her family, whether it be summer vacations in Avalon, holidays in Hershey, celebrating Christmas traditions, or just a simple barbeque at home by the pool.
Sherry's contagious smile could light up a room, and her generous spirit made a lasting impression on many friends and acquaintances. She especially enjoyed her tenure as a softball coach at Holy Spirit School, and was a passionate fan for all of her children's sports and theatrical activities. Sherry was also a member of the Delaware Ovarian Cancer Society.
Sherry was predeceased by her maternal grandparents, Edith and Jacob Steele, and father-in-law, H.J. "Bert" Ranauto.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 26 years, Rich, daughters, Jessica, Jenna, and Marissa, sons, Vinnie and Anthony, and two grandsons, Paul and Landon. Also left to cherish her memory are her mother, Janet Bitner and her husband Don, father, Leland Lewis, mother-in-law, Rose Ranauto, sister, Renee Smith and her husband Tony, Jordana Costello, Don and Kim Bitner II, Mary Ellen Ranauto, Andrea and Walter Hagelstein, Michael and Beth Ranauto, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
The family would like to thank all of the extraordinary caregivers who supported Sherry throughout her illness
