Donald J. Buczik

After a long illness, Donald James Buczik, of Wilmington, DE, passed away peacefully on June 19, 2013 at Heartland Hospice with his wife of 60 years by his side. Son of James Buczik and Mary and John Kosenuk, Don was born in Baltimore, MD in 1930.

Don was a decorated officer of the Korean War, serving as a 2nd Lieutenant. Following his discharge, he married Jean Buczik and began his career at General Motors where he stayed for 32 years while raising his 4 children. After retiring, he later worked for 10 years at his son's butcher shop making homemade sausage.

Don enjoyed spending time with his family, he loved the outdoors, fishing, hunting and gardening. He is well known for his baking expertise, especially his apple pies.

Don is survived by his wife Regina Buczik; his children, Debra Teets, Karen Haghighi (Kie), Norman Buczik (Ashley), Michael Buczik and 6 grandchildren, Samantha, Jonathan, Max, Laura, Katie and Matthew.

Don's family would like to thank the entire staff at Heartland Hospice for their compassionate care given during his illness.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Monday June 24 at 11 am in Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 4701 Weldin Rd. Wilmington 19803. Friends are welcome at 10 am. Entombment will follow in Cathedral Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Heartland Hospice, 5661 Ochletree Lane, Wilmington, DE 19808.
