Hunter Sr.

Age 80, went home to be with the lord on June 27, 2013 in Bradenton FL, due to natural causes.

Emory was born on January 18, 1933 in Wilmington, DE graduating from Wilmington High School in 1951.

Emory's most recent residence was in Brooklawn, NJ where he attended many local churches in the area.

Emory was a U.S. Air Force veteran serving during the Korean conflict as an aircraft mechanic at Larson Air Force base in Washington State. Emory received the National Defense Service Medal as well as the Good Conduct Medal.

Emory worked as a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service for over 30 years, retiring in 1989. Emory would take dog treats along on his route, and one day a stray German shepherd dog continued to follow him every day, even running alongside his mail truck and then followed him home. Emory adopted him, named him Leaper, who stayed at his parent's house.

He was pre deceased by his first wife Virginia Lee, and his second wife Shirley Flanagan Hunter, parent's Emory and Mary Hunter, and his children Steven, Emory Jr. and Adrienne.

Emory is survived by his son Courtland Hunter of Jacksonville, FL and his sisters Esther Mazzochi Hofacker of Somerdale, NJ and Faith Hyland of Elkton MD. and 8 grandchildren.

A memorial service and interment will be held on July 26, at 2 pm at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery 2465 Chesapeake City Road Bear, DE 19701 with Military Honors provided by the Rising Sun American Legion and Rev. Bert Flagstead from Praise Assembly of God Church on Old Baltimore Pike.
