In 1970, my fiancé (a 19-year-old Jewish college sophomore) and I (a 23-year-old Catholic computer programmer), could not marry in Massachusetts. The legal age for males to wed was 21, and his parents would not consent

Delaware was the closest state where we could marry. We contacted Fr. Roberto, who agreed to meet with us and, five days later, officiated at our wedding.

We returned to renew our vows with him in 2005.

Our marriage lasted almost 54 years, but I lost him to dementia before we reached our anniversary.

We dearly loved Fr. Roberto, and appear in his biopic.

He is an important part of my memoir.

I know he is secure in the arms of his loving God

He was a practical, Rennaisance, model religious, but humble person. He will be deeply missed as well as much as his numerous contributions to his church and community are appreciated. The Italian immigrants felt in the ealy days he was their trusted advocate. God will have a special place for him as the beautiful soul he is.

Mere words cannot describe Father Roberto. This kind, gentle man who was the people's priest. His daily actions were a shining example to all who knew him. He is a true Oblate of St. Francis de Sales. VJ - Live Jesus! May his soul rest in peace and may he enjoy eternal life with Jesus, Whom he served so well.

God needed Father for such a time as his hundred years reflected. Our world needs such holy priests now more than ever, who lead by example , love without counting the cost , preach the truth even to ears unwilling to hear, and follow the guidance of the Holy Spirit wherever He takes them. Father opened the door of the rectory to me late one evening in 1957 and subsequently led me into the Church and eventually to a personal relationship with Jesus Christ through my Catholic faith. He lived his oblate motto "Live Jesus" and he did "hold fast and not let go." I will always thank God for him and hope to reach the end of my life having "lived Jesus" to my little corner of the world..

Fr. Roberto, I grew up with you. You served your parish, city and God with all your heart and soul. You infected all of us with your faith. You got us to do your wishes for the church in God's name so easily and you were always standing next to us while we did it! You will be missed terribly here and midnight Christmas mass will never be the same again. Those that knew you, know you are in Heaven with our Father enjoying your just rewards. All our love and prayers to your family. For years of Faith,
